Honorable mention at the 1999 Black Maria Film and Video festival. Fire in the Eyes was picked from over 900 films, only around 25 received honorable mentions.

Along with LUNA -The Stafford Giant Tree-Sit, Fire in the Eyes was part of the Okomedia Institute film festival in Beijing China in March 2001. They were also broadcast on Chinese national TV. The Okomedia Institute actively promotes and places its winning films in the eco TV markets around the world, and though the Chinese broadcast did not bring in any funds it was seen by millions (maybe even a billion). There is also a plan to try to distribute LUNA videos to schools throughout China! Imagine millions of children getting a glimpse of our own eco warrior Julia Butterfly!
